RoohRaah is more than just programs; it’s a movement towards a more emotionally resilient, connected, and joyful India. Our work directly addresses critical societal needs and contributes to a future where wellbeing is truly holistic and accessible.
Why RoohRaah Matters in India: The Urgent Need
There’s a palpable and urgent need for the spaces and experiences RoohRaah provides. We are committed to addressing:
- India’s Happiness Deficit: India consistently ranks low in the World Happiness Report (118th out of 147 countries in 2025). With an average life satisfaction score around 4 out of 10, there’s a significant gap between contentment and genuine well-being, highlighting an urgent need for initiatives like ours.
- The Silent Mental Health Crisis: UNICEF reports that one out of seven young people (aged 15-24) in India often feels depressed or has little interest in doing things. We aim to counteract this by creating safe spaces for emotional expression and reducing the stigma around mental health.
- Burnout is the New Normal: With 68% of Gen Z and 61% of millennials reporting burnout, “aspirational anxiety” leads to exhaustion and cynicism. We offer alternatives that promote slowness, emotional hygiene, and a balanced life.
- Social Fragmentation in a Connected World: Despite traditional social fabric, rapid urbanization and digital dependence have led to isolation. We actively build “safe communities” to meet the fundamental human need for connection.
- Demand for Accessible, Holistic Wellbeing: There’s a growing desire for accessible, culturally relevant ways to enhance emotional, intellectual, social, and creative lives. We bridge the gap where quality emotional wellbeing resources are often perceived as elite or overly clinical.
Our Impact Pathway
Through our unique approach and dedicated programs, we are actively:
- Restoring emotional resilience among youth and communities: Equipping individuals with tools and support to navigate life’s challenges with greater strength and self-awareness.
- Redefining wellbeing to include play, emotion, and expression: Shifting the narrative from mere survival to joyful presence and authentic living.
- Building local ecosystems of joy, creativity, and care: Fostering interconnected communities that offer ongoing support and opportunities for growth.
Offering alternatives to burnout culture and hyper-productivity: Championing slowness, reflection, and human connection as essential for a fulfilling life.
